Diamond Quadrilateral Bullet Train Project

Bullet Train cost_₹ 97'500 Cr Railway Train

The Diamond Quadrilateral is a project of the Indian railways to establish high speed rail network in India. This quadrilateral will connect the four metro cities in India, i.e. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.

The Rail Budget presented by Railway Minister to increase the speed of trains in select sectors to 160-200 km/h and also identified 12 sectors for high speed bullet train projects across the country. Higher speed for existing super fast trains can be achieved by upgrading the present rail network but bullet trains will require completely new infrastructure

High-speed train on Mumbai-Ahmedabad section will be the first bullet train corridor to be implemented in the country. The Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor is an approved high-speed railcorridor in India connecting the cities of Mumbai and Ahmedabad. If built, it will be India's first high speed rail line.

Construction of one kilometer of high speed railway track will cost Rs 100-140 crore and the country will need a total of Rs 90,000 crore to lay the entire high speed train corridor.

  1. The Shiv Sena on Friday continued its attack on India and Japan’s joint venture of bullet train. In the editorial of its mouthpiece, Saamna, the party said that if Indian railways had taken lessons from Japan on the safety formula of its railway system, the country would have been happier.
